Vaccines

What are Vaccines?

Vaccines are a preventive strategy that protects you from highly contagious and potentially life-threatening diseases like: Polio, Mumps, Measles, Hepatitis, Chickenpox, Meningitis, Seasonal flu strains, and Human papillomavirus (HPV). Vaccines work by introducing a weakened or inactive antigen to your body to help your immune system recognize and build up its defense against it. If you come into contact with the disease later in life, your immune system can better protect against it. HealthWell Family Health offers vaccines to protect children and adults from serious illnesses. The medical team reviews your medical history and existing health to identify which vaccines you or your child need and when.

Vaccines are your best defense against measles, the flu, and other contagious diseases. To lower your risk for complications some diseases can cause, HealthWell Family Health provides a range of vaccines for children and adults. Nina Aronov, FNP-BC, and the medical team ensure you stay up to date on vaccines and boosters, so you can enjoy a long, healthy life. They also offer resources for those who can't be vaccinated because of allergies or other health issues. Call the office in the Forest Hills neighborhood of Queens, New York, to schedule a vaccine consultation or book an appointment online today.

When do I need vaccines?

Typically, you receive several vaccines soon after birth when your immune system is still developing. There are also several vaccines you should get before you start school and throughout your childhood. Some vaccines you get as a child require boosters as you get older to keep you protected from illness. Adolescents and young adults may also benefit from vaccines that protect against HPV, a contagious virus spread through sexual contact. HealthWell Family Health also offers travel vaccines that reduce your risk for yellow fever, malaria, and other diseases more common outside the United States.

What are the benefits of vaccines?

Vaccines protect you from serious illness and long-term health complications resulting from contagious diseases. Getting vaccinated not only protects you from sickness but can also protect individuals with underlying medical conditions that weaken their immune systems. Vaccines slow the spread of viruses in a community and lower risk factors for illness among those who can receive vaccines.

Before being available to the public, vaccines undergo extensive testing for safety and effectiveness. If you have any concerns about the benefits or safety of vaccines for you or your child, speak with the HealthWell Family Health team before you make a decision. When you can't receive vaccines because of existing health issues or allergies, the team can provide resources to lower your risk factors for contagious diseases. Call HealthWell Family Health to schedule a vaccine consultation or book an appointment online today.

Dr. Nina is amazinggg!! She took her time with me and didn't rush, which I truly appreciated. She was incredibly sweet, as were the medical assistants. The office is pretty and clean. If you want a PCP that genuinely cares, listens to you, is sweet, and doesn’t rush you then I highly recommend!

I walked into Dr. Nina's office on a mission to find a PCP that listens to me, that is kind and doesn't rush through our appointment and that mission is complete! The space is clean and really nice and the two employees were really helpful in figuring out some health insurance hurdles with me. Dr. Nina listens to you and your concerns, takes her time and is super personable. I am relieved to have found a great doctor.

I had a great experience here. The office is clean and up to date. I had an annual exam and NP Aronov communicated and listened thoroughly and you can tell she cares about her patients. Her medical assistant was amazing as well. She greeted me and did my vitals as soon as I came in and drew my blood as soon as my exam was over. Time is managed very well here, which is hard to find. I highly recommend!
